A word from our Board President...

Welcome to the web site of the Idaho Walk to Emmaus.  We are affiliated with the Upper Room, a division of the United Methodist Church.  Our community spans the entire width of Southern Idaho.  We hold many monthly gatherings and three 72 hour retreats each year.

The Walk to Emmaus is designed to further develop Christian disciples and leaders so that they are able to strengthen their local church and change their world.  Although we are affiliated with the Upper Room, the Walk to Emmaus is for all traditional Christian denominations.  For the past 27 years, the Walk to Emmaus has been an effective means of renewing disciples and, through them, their local congregations – both in Idaho and throughout the world.

So you may ask, how does the cycle of renewal start?  The church, by way of sponsors, brings people to the Walk.  The Emmaus weekend equips them to be intentional disciples of Jesus Christ and agents of renewal.  Pilgrims return to their local congregations, their primary places of discipleship, and to their homes, places of employment, and communities, offering themselves as selfless servants.  Most participants after leaving a Walk weekend are energized about employing their gifts and graces where they are needed in the local congregation.  They will then, as part of their church, sponsor new people to attend the Walk – and the cycle continues.  In Idaho, this cycle has happened 49 times.  This winter, we will experience our 50th set of Walks.

I encourage you to explore our web page.  We keep it current with respect to the location of monthly gatherings as well as our Walk weekends.  If you have not already done so, and are a member of the Walk to Emmaus, please register for our newsletter, the e-gallo.
